It wasn't. It was actually the best thing that could have happened to us. It cemented "us" as a team and we did learn fast. Ki quickly was able to create and upload terrain files so that the 4 blobs became 4 sims - empty ones but at least we had some ground to walk on. Discovering how to hypergrid to other grids meant I could do something and bring back some items that creators had kindly donated to people for free and so within a week or so we had fairly decent looking avatars, clothes and some trees and plants. Once I found a couple of dances then some of my fears started to fade.
One of the first things Ki learnt was animating and he made us some cuddles. He knew this was important to me, I am big on cuddles and prior to that I would make him log into Second Life last thing each night because we have never gone to bed without a goodnight hug. It inspired me to take some building classes and I was over the moon when I made my first cuddle rug using an MLPv2. No more late night grid swap!
So now, as today, New Kama celebrates it's 3rd birthday we have 4 ever changing sims as Ki masters new skills and we update everything we have, especially with mesh. We can't believe we have been there 3 years and we honestly believe it will never be finished but we look around at what we have created from nothing with only the cost of our server host (which incidentally is ridiculously cheap in comparison to SL) it is the best thing we ever could have done. A haven of peace and calm away from Second Life with all its drama and spending of L$.
Thank you Ki for giving me the perfect place to live our virtual lives. I enjoy my time spent in Second Life with my friends but happiest when I can come home to New Kama and you.
Juke Joint NE Sim |
This is our juke joint. It's cool, no drama, no guests but the 2 DJ's are amazing!
NE Sim |
We are attempting to create a swamp atmosphere.
The North West sim is currently a beach sim.
Always on sunset currently this sim.
The South East sim is currently pretty barren apart from a skyship and some other bits and bobs while we decide what direction to take it.
Finally the South West Sim, which I guess we call our home sim. It is probably the closest to being "finished".
Happy 3rd Birthday New Kama.
You can see more New Kama pictures here Cindy's facebook
but you are going to need to be my friend. :D
So 2 days after I wrote this, we trashed the south east sim and started an underwater sim. *rolls eyes*
